One million euro to reduce waste

Are you an entrepreneur or you work in a non-governmental organization and you have an idea, how to reduce waste production, extend the shelf life of raw or other materials, or maybe you know, how to reduce the consumption of products? If you have said “yes” in your mind at least once, we have good news for you! On July 22, a call under the “Environment” Programme financed by the EEA Grants started, in which you can get up to one million euro in support for a project strengthening the implementation of the circular economy.

"Today, many of us operate in the model: create, buy, consume, dispose of, which causes us to generate more and more waste. The circular economy aims to redefine our view of purchasing and using products. A closed cycle is characterized by the maximum use of every available resource, raw or other material, which is, at the same time, safe for the environment and human. Activities in this area are supported by a new call under the EEA Grants, with a total budget of EUR 3 million" – says the Minister of Development Funds and Regional Policy, Małgorzata Jarosińska-Jedynak.

The call, announced within the "Environment, Energy and Climate Change" Programme, financed by the EEA Funds, aims to support projects related to the broadly understood circular economy.

The call is to strengthen the sustainable development of the economy and support the effective functioning of society and the environment in the era of climate change. In particular, projects related to sustainable industrial production and consumption as well as bioeconomy may apply for support.

The minimum grant amount for one project is EUR 300,000, and the maximum amount that can be applied for is EUR 1,000,000.

The applicant's own contribution is the value of 15% of the eligible costs.

The submitting of applications started on July 22, 2020 and will last until September 22, 2020.

Detailed information about the call is available on the website of the Ministry of Climate, which is implementing the competition together with the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.
