Call for proposals announced by the National Science Centre

The support for research projects is launching! The National Science Centre (NCN) announced on 17th June 2019 the call for proposals under GRIEG and IdeaLab competitions.

The NCN is the operator responsible for basic research within the “Research” Programme.

The deadline for submission of proposals 

  • IdeaLab - August 19, 2019
  • GRIEG – September 17, 2019

Announcement of the results 

  • IdeaLab – January 2020
  • GRIEG – by the end of March 2020 at the latest

logo konkursu Grieg GRIEG is the competition for joint Polish-Norwegian research projects implemented in all fields of science (according to the NCN panels), with special regard to polar research and social sciences research. The research has to be accomplished jointly by Polish-Norwegian research teams consisting of at least one Polish partner (a consortium leader), and at least one Norwegian partner.

The project leader can be a scientist who possesses at least PhD degree. He or she has to be employed in a Polish research institution. The leader of the Norwegian part of the research team has to be a research institution.

The research institutions, entrepreneurs and non-governmental organizations can be a part of the consortium. The time of project implementation can be 24 or 36 months. The GRIEG competition is financed from the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014 – 2021. The competition budget is over EUR 37 million. The requested amount of grant for the whole period of the implementation of the Polish-Norwegian project is from EUR 0.5 to 1.5 million. The expenses for salaries and scholarships of the research team, purchase of equipment, materials and services, costs of trips and conferences, and other costs related to the implementation of the project can be funded from the grant. 

 

logo konkursu IdealabIdeaLab is the competition for research projects accomplish jointly by research teams consisting of at least one Polish partner (a consortium leader), and at least one partner from Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein.

The project leader can be a scientist who possesses at least PhD degree. He or she has to be employed in a Polish research institution. The research institutions, public institutions, non-governmental organizations and entrepreneurs can be a part of the consortium. The competition will be conducted in accordance with the "sandpit" formula developed by the Council for Science and Technologyof Great Britain and used by the Research Council of Norway under the name "Idélab".

The main element of the competition are workshops. The participants of the workshops (representing research institutions, non-governmental organizations, other public or private institutions) will face the challenges facing modern societies. The innovative formula of the workshop backs the development of groundbreaking, interdisciplinary and new concepts for research projects. The IdeaLab competition is financed from the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014 – 2021. The competition budget is almost EUR 4.5 million.
